Litmag at ProCon
Literary magazines are one of the most intricate – and unappreciated – projects in student media.
Nothing else on campus relies so much on creating something from nothing. There’s no news to cover, no script to follow, and every issue is reimagined and rebuilt.

Sessions

Give me your poor, your immigrants, your creatives…
Inclusivity in literary magazines isn’t just highlighting underrepresented voices to make sure the content speaks to all kinds of audiences. It’s doing so in the age of DEI expulsion in government agencies and academia. Through the voices in litmags, a lot can be said without running the risk of being censored or having funding pulled.

A Literary magazine journey: the graduate arts and science magazine
Here’s a quick and lean behind-the-scenes walkthrough on how a single issue of a litmag comes together, from the first pitch meeting to the final printed copy – including a mini-dive into start-up funding, editorial processes, curating an issue, web presence, how to balance creative and other important content. We’ll also discuss dealing with feedback.
